Born and raised in Toronto, Debora has always shown a passion for the arts. From a family of European artists, she has been surrounded by the masterpieces of many relatives - including her great grandfather Otto Geismer - a renowned European painter of the Impressionists period.
While she pursued a successful career in sales and marketing, her true love was fine art and she always made time in the studio. Over the years, Debora studied drawing, watercolour and acrylic painting with Canadian artists Brian Hoxha and Bonnie McVittie, as well as a variety of artists at various Art Studios.
Her work invokes warmth and movement. Her use of colour and understanding of lights and darks create balance and harmony. "I've always loved using colour to create a mood." Her recent series include big skies and bright fall birches.
She has had various private and corporate commissions, including a triptych featuring her "red birch" series for the Toronto Cricket, Skating & Curling Club. She is on the" North Toronto Group of Artists" board and is part of an exhibition at the Capital One head office in Toronto. For the last 5 years, she has organized the annual Yonge Lawrence BIA ARTWALK bringing original works of art from over 50 local artists to the store windows and interiors of over 50 of our local merchants including stores, restaurants and businesses.
